Fashion from the National Trust Collections
A Lunchtime talk by National Trust Curators exploring fascinating stories about fashion
"100 Things to Wear"
Join us for a lunchtime talk by National Trust curators Helen Antrobus (Assistant National Curator) and Emma Slocombe (Senior National Curator), who will explore the fascinating stories from their new book - 100 Things to Wear: Fashion from the collections of the National Trust - scheduled for publication in Autumn 2025.
The National Trust fashion and dress collection is made up of more than 40,000 items of dress and accessories, spanning the histories of England, Northern Ireland and Wales – from attire of extraordinary luxury to practical, everyday working clothes.
The talk will explore the making of the book, which included a year-long conservation, mounting and photography project, and will showcase new research exploring themes of global consumption and trade and rich social histories, spotlighting previously hidden gems from the collection.
