Plas Newydd
Enchanting mansion and gardens on the shore of the Menai Straits on Anglesey, just 27 minutes from Bodysgallen Hall
While staying at Bodysgallen Hall, take the opportunity to visit other National Trust properties in North Wales. One not to be missed is Plas Newydd, near Llanfairpwllgwyngyll on the Menai Straits, Anglesey.
Plas Newydd is the ancestral home of the Marquess of Anglesey. The house was redesigned by James Wyatt in the 18th-century, and the 1930s restyled interior is famous for its Rex Whistler association and contains his exquisite romantic mural and the largest exhibition of his works.
A military museum contains relics from the First Marquess of Anglesey's tenure, Henry William Paget (born 1768), who commanded the cavalry at the Battle of Waterloo 1815. He lost a leg and was awarded the title 'Marquess of Anglesey' for his bravery.
